Silverdale TR Regatta documents and pairs

Good Morning,

It's been a bit since we have attended a team race regatta and I wanted to go over some TR-specific stuff.

1. Sailors are in teams of 6, 3 pairs each. We will have two teams attending this regatta (listed below). Teams will compete 3vs3 against other schools.

2. This regatta is split into two events - gold and silver. Scores and rotations will be separate for each fleet and are available on Techscore. We have one team in each.

3. Rotations are not like fleet racing. Teams will only sail one race at a time and then go back to the dock to rotate. 60% of the time, sailors have to immediately go back out on the water and do another race. 30% of the time, sailors have a quick 5-10 min break to water/snack/bathroom. 10% of the time, sailors will have a 20-30 minute break to go back to our tent and rest. In general, sailors will be spending more time on the water than a fleet race regatta, and will not have as much time to chill under the tent. Rotations are linked below.

Sailing Instructions - Please Read

Sehome Gold Team
Tyce Finn
Bella Fiona
Tristan Max W

Bellingham Silver Team
Dylan Dmitry
Marin Aiofe
Sotiri Ajax
Hazel

Silver Fleet - Silver Fleet Scores          Silver Fleet Rotations

Cool regatta viewing opportunity this Friday

Hi sailors,

WWU and UW sailing teams are hosting West Coast Women's Team Race Champs on Friday out of Zuanich Point Park. I recommend (if you have the time) to go down and watch some high level team racing! Teams in attendance: Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State University, Stanford University (national champs for the last 2 year!), UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, University of Hawai'i, UW, & WWU. There might be opportunities to talk to student leadership or coaches about their sailing programs. Things should start around 11AM and I'm not sure how late they are racing.

Best,
Cooper

Re: RR#2 Logistics- Silver

Good morning sailors,

Carpools to Silver RR2 in Willamette are meeting at the Sehome Haggens at 3:45pm today.

Silver Team - Marin, Jade, Ajax, Dora, Sawyer, Dmitry (6)

What to bring for sailing: Lots of warm clothes and layers, extra layers for day 2, wetsuit, snacks, water bottle, money or prepped food for two whole dates!! Wetsuits are required according to an email I got from the host yesterday (see below).

What to bring for overnight: Sleeping bag, toiletries, homework, towel, spare clothes

Waiver: Please don't forget to bring your signed waiverAs I mentioned at practice, it is a physical waiver, not digital, so it needs to be printed and signed.

Food: There will not be lunch offered at this regatta. Please bring food and money to cover 7 meals. Each morning, we will be stopping at the grocery store so sailors can buy their own breakfast and lunch items if needed. Sailors can bring non-perishable food/snacks as well, but we won't have a cooler (or space for one) in the car or at the regatta. There will be a fridge at the house we are staying at.
We will be going out for dinner on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, likely along I-5 on Friday, and one of the food truck gardens in the area we are staying at on Saturday night. Sunday we will play it by ear depending on Portland traffic.

Cost: $5 event registration fee + $20 for gas + $50+ for 7 meals, including 3 meals out= $75+ per sailor

We do not want cost to be a barrier to participating. If you/ your sailor cannot afford the full cost, please let us know and we can work something out.

Below are notes from the hosts about the event. Sailors and parent chaperones, please read!!

PARKING:
  • Coaches and families are welcome to park in the WSC parking lot, although space is limited. The parking lot on the West side of the train tracks, belonging to Grand & Benedicts, will serve as overflow parking for the event. Carpooling is highly recommended!
  • Trailers can be stored in the upper NW corner of our boat yard. We will have parents onsite Saturday morning to help direct traffic.
VIEWING + OUR CLUBHOUSE:
  • As mentioned, WSC parents will be onsite Saturday morning to help direct traffic flow. They will also help disperse teams along our docks so they do not become too congested. Some teams may be asked to station along the bluff in the boat yard (that still overlooks the racecourse) as we have a LOT of people attending this regatta!
  • Our clubhouse will be open and unlocked on race days. Parents are welcome to spectate from our upstairs "Windward Room" - there is Wifi and seating.
    • Please note: NO DOGS are allowed upstairs in the Windward Room, but are welcome on the dock as long as they are leashed
    • Please note: WET sailors are NOT allowed upstairs in the Windward Room
  • Lunch will NOT be provided either day of racing but there will be a snack buffet for ALL sailors (granola bars, individually wrapped snacks)
  • Please help us keep the clubhouse clean! Dispose of all trash in the appropriate bins. Our WSC parent volunteers will regularly empty our trash to prevent it from overflowing.
    • On Sunday, we will have a FAST turnover for our weekly member racing, which starts an hour after we conclude. Keeping the space clean as we go will make this turnover smoother!
  • We use Radio Channel #68
IMPORTANT INFO FOR SAILORS:
  • Wetsuits are required for this event!
  • Know that the current can run strong and wind can be light this time of year!
  • There are several restrooms and changing areas:
    • Upland (in the boat yard): We have a men's restroom and a women's restroom with changing space and hot showers
    • In the clubhouse (downstairs): We have a men's restroom and a women's restroom with changing space
    • In the clubhouse (upstairs): We have a gender-neutral restroom in the Windward Room
Please let me know if you have any other questions! I look forward to seeing you all later today.

Best,
Anna
