An Important Reminder & our Winter Fundraiser!
Hello Sailors, Families and Fans!
This Winter the Community Boating Center, Whatcom Sailing , Bellingham Yacht Club, the Community Boating Center and the Western Washington University Sailing will be hosting a joint fundraiser with proceeds directly supporting youth sailing in the region. We are currently in the process of building out a team of volunteers to assist us in the planning and execution of this event.
Not only is sailing a fantastic lifetime sport, but it is a mechanism to teach youth a whole host of life skills : teamwork, problem solving, environmental awareness, independence, confidence, safety and responsibility, It offers a unique blend of physical, mental, and personal development benefits for youth - but it's not an affordable sport. This fundraiser aims to relieve some of the costs associated with sailing from families - allowing us to have a more equitable, inclusive and accessible sport.
There are many ways you can support youth sailing: monetary donations, item procurement, volunteering and an offering of expertise - your involvement in this event is highly appreciated! In the attached document, we have a list of volunteer roles we are filling to support the fundraising event on November 18th. These ask for a variety of skills and commitment levels we're looking for!
When you've found the perfect role, please fill out our volunteer signup here - volunteersignup.org/BKA9J.
Thank you for all of your support,
