Vashon Regatta Details

This weekend is the Vashon Regatta.  The team going is: Lauren, Sedona, Haley, Jack, Forrest, Jacob, Maddie, ColeS, Sophia, Madison, Lera, Peyton, Emma, Mallory, Alejandro, MaxC, Nat, Dillon, Leila, Casey, Giselle, Mira, Cedric, Gus, Ajax, Keller, Natalie, MaxS, Cecilia, Fischer, Payton, Zac, Ian, Liam, Eli, Sammy, Reid -38

Drivers: hood (4), Scott (3), Jones (5), Scofidio (3), Morrison (2), Weston (4), Knopp (7), Andrews (3) - Need 7 more seats.

Entry Fee = $10, includes lunch both days.  Please bring money for dinner sat, breakfast sunday, and potentially a dinner stop sunday.

Attached is the NOR, no waiver for this one.  

We will leave Sat morning at 7am from Sehome Haggens. We will be staying with a local sailing parent.  Bring sleeping pad, pillow, bag, toothbrush, etc.  No races after 3 on sun, so probably a return to bellingham around 6-7pm.

Thursday Practice

Since tomorrow is early release we are going to take advantage of that and get to lakewood a bit early to rig boats and get on the water faster.  Please arrive at 3:15 if you can.  If you can't make it until normal time that is fine also.  Please rig, change, and launch boats.  But don't go sailing until Ben or I get there.

Seattle Regatta Details

This weekend we head down to Seattle for a regatta at Sail Sand Point and Seattle Yacht Club. At Sail Sand Point will be Gold and Silver fleets.  At Seattle Yacht Club will be bronze fleet.  Below are details for each:

Sail Sand Point - Gold and Silver Fleets:
The team going to SSP: Lera, Emma, Cedric, Ria, Nat, Casey, Jacob, Cole S, Lauren, Jack, Natalie, Peyton, Mallory, Alejandro, Artemisia, Tristan, Maddie, Mira, Forrest, Giselle, Sophia. - 21 kids

Drivers to SSP: Serbousek (3), Keneipp (4), Wangler (3) - Need 10 more seats.

Cost: $5 - There is no food provided, but we will be staying at the Waldorf school again so I need to collect $5 from the SSP team to pay for that.  You will also need to bring money for food: lunch on Saturday and money for dinner Sat night, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.  We will get pizza or similar Saturday night and stop at Safeway Sunday morning for breakfast and lunch.  

The Sail Sand Point regatta is a two day event.  Racing will end around 3, we will load our boats and return to Bellingham around 7. 

For sleeping Saturday night, please bring sleeping bag, pad, and pillow.  We are sleeping on a gym floor.  Don't bring a giant inflatable mattress.

The team going to SYC: Fischer, Haley, Zac, Max C, Morgan, Madison, Gus, Ajax, Max S, Keller, Dillon, Quentin, Jenna, Warren, Reid - 15 kids

Drivers to SSP: Morrison (2), Vazquez (2), Owen (3) - Need 8 more seats.

Cost: $10 - Food is provided. There is a good taco bar lunch.

The SYC regatta is a one day event.  Racing will end around 5, we will load our boat and return to Bellingham around 7.

The entry fee is $5.  No food is provided, so bring some cash for lunch.

Drivers - If any of you have more seats than are indicated please let me know so we can reduce the number of vehicles.  Also, I need a couple of vehicles to tow boats, so please let me know if  you have a 2" ball hitch and would be willing to tow down and back.  

We will be meeting at the Sehome Haggens parking lot at 8:00am on Saturday morning.  Please be on time and bring all your normal sailing gear, life jackets, booties, gloves, hats, etc.  Bring a change of clothes also in case you get cold and wet.  Bring $5 dollars for entry fee and the waiver which you can find here.   Racing will go till 5 pm on Saturday, we will head home as soon as we are all loaded up after racing.

BYC Sailing Talk TONIGHT 6pm

The BYC, specifically coach Gavin, is giving a sailing talk tonight at 6pm in the BYC downstairs room.  The talks are on general sailing information from rules to racing.  The BYC is asking for a $5 donation if you can.  These talks are continuing for the next few weeks each Tuesday.

Sailing Updates

SPRING SCHEDULE
For those planning ahead, the spring schedule has been posted to the website: www.whatcomsailing.com.  Also, if you are planning to take the SATs others have found that taking it in the winter works better when you are not in the middle of sailing season.  

WINTER BYC PRACTICES

SKI TRIP
Jack and Alejandro are planning a ski trip up to Mt. Baker this weekend and are inviting the team.  Below is the information I was sent from Jon Knowles, but contact Jack or Alejandro for details.

Saturday 
  • Meet at Hagen at 7 AM Saturday for Car Pool
  • Drop of sleeping bags, pads, etc at our Glacier Cabin
  • Meet up upper lodge (for ski rentals)
  • Lunch 12:30 Heather Meadows Lodge (Bring own or purchase)
  • Head back to our cabin in Mt Baker Rim when done
  • Bring $5 for Lasagna Dinner (Meet and Veggie), salad, bread, soda
  • Campfire
  • Crash on floor in sleeping back Adults get beds

Sunday

  • Breakfast - Instant Oatmeal, Yogurt Granola, Cold Cereal with Milk
  • Ski, hang out at Cabin/Glacier or head back to Bellingham
I can sleep 24 max - 20 kids and 4 Chaperon parents (I'll obviously be there)
