This Weekend's Regatta - A couple of reminders

Hello Whatcom Sailing Parents,

I'm excited to watch some sailing this weekend in this great weather. 

If your child is participating in the regatta this weekend, here are a couple of reminders: (1) please be sure to fill out this online waiver: https://forms.gle/DaVzdWW5vV9b2YnX6 and (2) There is a $10 regatta entrance fee per sailor. They can bring a check written out to "Anacortes Waterfront Alliance."

We will see your sailors at 8:45am tomorrow at the Sehome Haggen parking lot. On Sunday the meeting time is 7:45am.

More drivers came forward so now all we need is 2 more seats on Sunday.  Or perhaps someone can take more kids than what I have listed?

We will be coming back each day so if you drive down on Saturday I will assume you are driving down on Sunday as well unless you tell me otherwise.

0900 Report time.

1000 First warning; sailing will continue throughout the day.

1500 No race will be started after this time,

1530 Results and Awards Presentation.

Regatta Entrance Fee

There is a $10 regatta entrance fee per sailor. You can bring a check written out to "Anacortes Waterfront Alliance"

Parking: 

The Seafarers Building Parking Lot is very small. We encourage everyone to park at the Northwest Educational Services Building parking lot that is just West of the venue. There is a gate that leads right to the Seafarers building. Trailers can be parked and unloaded in the grass lot NW of the venue.

For this weekend, please show up at 9 am tomorrow at the Zuanich dock.  Pack your own food for lunch.

Bring wetsuits, watches, and bailers!

Spring High School Sailing

Sailors and Parents,

The sailing team pre-season meeting will be Monday, February 20th @ 6pm @ The Bellingham Yacht Club in the downstairs room. This meeting is for all parents and students who plan to be on the team or are interested in learning more about it.  The team is open to all high schoolers in Whatcom County. 8th graders are also welcome ONLY if you have racing experience.  We have many important topics to cover at the meeting including practice and regatta schedules and expectations. It will also be a good meeting to attend for new sailors interested in joining the team, so encourage anyone who might be interested to come.

REGISTRATION & TEAM FEES

Team fees are $350 for the spring season. As always, we don't want these fees to stop anyone from participating so please let me know if you need financial assistance.

Registration is now open and online at whatcomsailing.com. Registration will close at 35 kids and next Friday Feb 24.

ALSO, all high schoolers (not 8th grade) must do the required sports clearance with your school.  This is an online process now at your school's website.  Here are links to each schools athletic registration process:

A sports physical is also required, so get that scheduled ASAP.  

Registration and school clearance is required before you can practice. For a list of everything that is required see the Join Page of our website.  Attached is the sailor packet with more information.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: Practices will be Tuesdays/Thursdays 3:45 to 6:30

Practice starts Tuesday Feb 28 @ 3:45 at the Bellingham Yacht Club.
