Re: Orcas Regatta Details

Update, we now don't have a regatta on Saturday March 31st. So highschool sailors, sailing-wise we are free to go to this event.

Hi Sailors and parents of sailors!

Gary Baker of the Bellingham Yacht Club asked me to spread the word and ask if anyone can help out next Saturday for a Junior Sailing Fund Raising event at the Bellingham Yacht Club. All of the money raised will go towards Junior Sailing/High School Sailing and maintaining the fleet of FJ's that the club has purchased for youth  sailing and for the High School sailing team. It is a great cause to help out with and this will be a fun evening!

Gary has arranged for a world cruiser to come and talk about his experiences cruising with his family in far flung parts of the world. It will be a fascinating presentation and slide show for everyone. There will be a potluck dinner provided by everyone who volunteers to help. This is where you can really help out to make the evening work! Bring a dish for everyone to share. Some members of the Anacortes YC are coming up as guests (paying guests) as well as some other clubs so we need lots of food to feed these people. The theme of the dinner is Italian, although don't feel you have to adhere too closely to this theme. The time is 5 pm on Saturday, March 31. The suggested donation for adults is $8 (for teens and youths $5).

March 31 was the only date the speaker could make it, so that is the date. There is a one day High School regatta that same day, but it should work out to have both activities on the same day even if the high school sailors don't get back in time for the presentation. The important part is to get some volunteers to make food for the evening! Give me or Gary a call if you are able to help out. This is for anyone interested in High School sailing and youth sailing, you don't need to be a member of the BYC. Any and all help from the sailing community is welcome! Cruise the World Slide Show and Dinner - Don't miss it! 5pm, Saturday, March 31.

Happy Sailing,
Will

Subject: Orcas Regatta Details

Sailors and Parents,

We will be meeting tomorrow at the Sehome Haggens at 6:00pm.  Departing from there to catch the next ferry to Orcas.  We will be attempting to catch the 3:15 ferry off the island on Sunday.

You need to bring: Sleeping bag, sleeping pad (the floor is wood), pillow, $25 entry fee, all your sailing gear, and a sheet for the togo dance they are hosting on Saturday night.

The entry fee covers food for the weekend except for tomorrow night, so you should bring something or there may be food available on the ferry.  You do not need to bring any money for ferry or gas, the team pays for that.

Riley Ghio, don't forget to pick up the mast from Lakewood tomorrow (otherwise you will have to hold the sail up yourself).

Let me know if you have any questions,

Scott
