Sailing Team Update

Here are some updates for upcoming events and regattas.

CAR WASH SATURDAY
Our car wash fundraiser is this Saturday at The Public Market on Cornwall (1530 Cornwall) from 10:00am-4:00pm.   Everyone please bring sponges, wash clothes squeegies, soap, buckets, etc. Please also make signs, make sure they are clear and legible from long distance.  We will be doing the fundraiser rain or shine, so come prepared for either.  Fundraising events are an important and mandatory part of being on the sailing team. We need these funds to be able to go to regattas!  Parents are encouraged to come as well.  And be sure to pass on to friends and family to come by and have their cars washed.

CASCADIA CUP OCT 10-11
Our next regatta is Cascadia Cup (Sat and Sun Oct 10-11) in Seattle at SSP.  Everyone signed up for this one!  However this is the one that got moved from its original dates, so if you can't go now, please let me know.  But I am optimistic that we can get everyone sailing if we get enough boats down to Seattle.  This will be the biggest hurdle as we will need 7 boats and we have one trailer that can fit 3.  So either we make multiple trips, or we clamshell FJs on two single trailers.  I will work on this, but if anyone is driving down to Seattle with a hitch on Friday Oct 9th or has other brilliant solutions please let me know.

We will be leaving Saturday morning, and returning Sunday evening, just like Octoberfest.  We will be staying at Liam's Grandpas house again.  Bring sleeping pads, bags and pillows.
Entry fee is $15/ sailor.  Entry fee includes lunches both days.  We will be on our own for dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning.  So bring extra cash for each of these meals.
We will meet at the Sehome haggens at 7:30am on Saturday morning (Oct 10th) and carpool from there. Carpool driver details will be coming soon.

PORTLAND TEAM RACE CANCELLED / PUMPKIN BOWL
The Portland Team Race regatta scheduled for Oct 17-18 has been cancelled.  If you are interested there is a youth regatta in West Vancouver this weekend.  We may send up the BYC Race Team for this one if enough of you are interested.  Lots of 29ers and Lasers and Optis racing at this one. There may be housing options available at this one, but we just drove back to Bellingham last time we went. More information here: http://www.wvyc.ca/racing/pumpkin-bowl

TRICK OR TREAT REGATTA
Oct 24-25 we will go over to Orcas Island for the Trick or Treat Team Race regatta.  We will have Burkes cabin to ourselves. Leave Sat morning, return Sun evening. Sleeping bags, pillows, and pads for this one.  It is very likely that everyone that wants to go will be able to for this one.

This gets us through October.  The NK regatta is the only one after that and details are still being worked out.  For those who like to plan ahead, I have the Spring schedule posted to the NWISA page (http://nwisa.hssailing.org/schedule/nwisa14-15/schedule/nwisa-s).

Re: Octoberfest

Also, we need at least one more driver. Let me know if you can drive.  So far we have Steve, Jeff Weston, Tom Malone, and Scott Walker driving.  Let me know if you can tow boats as we will need to get a lot of them down there.

DJOD this Weekend

Sailing Team,

This weekends regatta is DJOD on Bellingham Bay hosted by the BYC.  It is Saturday and Sunday. There will be multiple fleets of boats, but our team will race in FJs and Lasers.  The cost is $45 for a laser and $65 for an FJ (split between the two).  I have registered you all in the pairs below, so you don't need to worry about that.  You will need to bring your entry fee to registration on Saturday morning.  Lasers bring $45 and FJs bring $32.5 in cash or check made out the BYC.  Entry fee includes dinner Saturday and Sunday.

Schedule:
Thursday at practice we will load boats.  We have a lot of boats to load so if you can stay later that would be great to load them all.  We will need to make multiple trips to load and unload the boats, so we will likely have to load again on Friday also.   I want all FJs down at the launch by Friday evening, we can put masts up then so Saturday morning goes quicker.

Saturday morning we will meet at the BYC downstairs at 8:45am.
Competitors meeting is at 9:00am
After skippers meeting we will go to boats and rig and launch.
Racing Starts at 11am.  Racing will go until around 4 or 5 on Saturday.
There will be dinner saturday night at the BYC, included with your entry fee.
Sunday we will meet at 9:00am at the boats.
Sunday racing will start at 10:30 and go till 2:30.
After racing sunday there will be dinner and awards at the BYC at 5pm.
