Keep Raising the Sail!

We have raised $5,400 so far, but we still need $6,600 more to buy 12 sets of sails.  Thanks to Hard Drive Marine, Cruisin Coffee, Brett McCandlis Brown & Conner, and Cindy Wilson (my wonderful mother), for their donations.

Please help spread the word about this fundraiser with people or businesses you know.  Feel free to pass out the attached flyer to potential donors. Thanks,

Raise the Sails Fundraiser

Sailors and Parents,

Today we are starting our fundraising campaign to purchase new sails for our boats.  Please donate if you can and spread the word so we can get nice new sails to use at regattas and eventually practices. New sails will help us be more competitive at regattas (at least the first 4 races in our own boats) and allow us to teach sail control better. We are hoping to raise $15,000 which would be enough for 12 sails.  Sails are $1,300 for a set.  If you, or someone you know, wants to sponsor a full set we can put their name or business name on the sails as the sponsor.

Oak Harbor Team Race

This weekend's regatta is a team race event at Oak Harbor.  We were hoping to stay down there Saturday night but the host is not providing housing so we will be coming back.  However, if someone has a connection to a place we could house the entire team let me know and we might go that route.

For the parents and some of the new kids, attached is a quick introduction to what team racing is. I also have a powerpoint on our website here: https://www.whatcomsailing.com/rules.html

The format and who is going is still being determined.  There is a coaches meeting tomorrow morning to determine the format which will let me know how many kids I can bring.  Once I have that information I will send out the list of who is going.

Stay tuned.

Alex

So far I have 2 drivers, Tamar Clarke and Michael Baker.  Each can take 4 kids which means we need one more kid to drive.  So can one of the other parents of these kids take the remaining 2?
