Whatcom Sailing Regatta Signups Closing @10PM

Hi Everyone,

Please review the Regatta signup and make sure all information is correct for these two upcoming events:

Combined Division @SSP April 6th and 7th. Notice of Race.
We will be sending only 6 sailors based off of finishes at Ranking Regattas 1 and 2, but sailors are not limited by school.

Ranking Regatta #3 @Vashon April 13th and 14th. Notice of Race.
This Regatta has both gold and silver so we are planning on taking as many sailors as possible. We will be leaving Friday afternoon and camping for both Friday and Saturday night. Parents, if you are available to drive and spend the weekend, we need more drivers. $35 registration fee for the Regatta includes a light breakfast Sat/Sun and a dinner Saturday night. Other costs will include ferry, lunches, and camping. This is a big Regatta at a new venue so please read through the NOR.

Signups for both of these events close tonight at 10pm. Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Cooper

Re: Orcas Clinic- Meet at 6am tomorrow

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your responses on tents!

It sounds like we now have more than enough tents for everyone- awesome.
The campsite states that only two tents are allowed per site, and we have two sites booked aka 4 tents- not as awesome; we are limited.
In this case, we have enough spaces and are fitting into the rules if these 6 people bring the 5 tents listed below and on the spreadsheet:
Tyce 5+ person
Alex 2 person
Megan 3 person
Anna 1 person
Sophia 4 person

This allows us enough space in a few larger tents to stay within the rules of the campsite (plus one emergency/extra tent). I know a lot of sailors were planning to bring their own smaller tents. If you want to bring those in case they let us set up extra, that's fine (I even included it as an option on the spreadsheet), but I'd like us to have the ability to fit within the 4 tents rule if needed.

Thanks again and please let me know if you have any other questions!

See you tomorrow at the Sehome Hill Haggens at 6am.

Best,
Anna

Schedule -  Two options
  • Leave Friday 5 pm. Get to our housing around 8pm.

I always think it's a great idea to leave the night before and get good rest for the sailors. I understand that this is late notice for leaving Friday so I want to hear if that works from each family.

Thanks,

Re: Orcas Silver Team Race

Good morning everyone,

Thank you for your responses! We will be going down SATURDAY morning, meeting at Sehome Hill Haggens at 6:00am on Saturday and taking the 7:40am ferry from Anacortes to Orcas.

Addresses/ Travel times:
The Anacortes Ferry Terminal is about 1 hour from Bellingham, located at Ferry Terminal Road, Anacortes, WA.

We will be sailing at Orcas Yacht Club in Deer Harbor, located at 876 Deer Harbor Rd, Eastsound, WA. It's about 10 minutes from the ferry terminal and the host knows we will be getting on island right at 8:30.

We are planning to camp at West Beach Resort, located at 190 Waterfront Way, Eastsound, WA. It's about 10 minutes from the Yacht Club and 15 minutes from the ferry terminal.

Ferries:
If drivers could please reserve spots for the 7:40am ferry on Saturday 23rd at that will help ensure we get the ferry on the way there! You have to get there 30 min before the scheduled sailing, which is why we are aiming to get there by 7:00am.

We will hopefully be taking the 5:15pm ferry back to Anacortes on Sunday, but reservations on the way home are unavailable. Reservations for the milk run (the last ferry that goes to all of the islands) are available if drivers want to reserve a spot on the 10:05pm ferry back to Anacortes on Sunday. That way, we will be sure we make it back on that ferry at the latest, although it is likely we will get on an earlier ferry. If we do end up having to wait to take a later ferry, the ferry terminal at Orcas has cell service, bathrooms, and some stores.

Camping:
We do not have to bring boats to this event (thanks to Orcas for providing them all!) but we do have to bring camping gear. If anyone can bring tents let me know. Sailors, please plan to bring a sleeping bag and sleeping pad at least, and possibly a tent if you have one. If anyone does not have a sleeping bag or sleeping pad, please reach out.

There are showers and a firepit at the campsite. The regatta host has said we can hang up sailing gear to dry at the yacht club overnight on Saturday. We are planning to bring group food- if any parents are interested in helping organize food for this let me know!

I'll be in touch with more details as I hear back about tents and group food, and will be updating it in this planning spreadsheet. Please take a look if you are interested.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,
Anna
