Sailing Team Update - COVID 19

ISSA has officially cancelled all high school sailing through May 1st, as well as District and National Championship regattas for the entire season.  This means that all regattas on our schedule are officially cancelled.  There is still a slim chance that things will settle down and local in-district regattas and practices may happen in May.

I know this is a lame way for the year to end, especially for the seniors who have been on the team for many years.  But there is one regatta that will never be cancelled, The Golden Bailer Trophy!  We will have this race.  It may not be until August, but it will happen eventually.  We will also have an end of year party, eventually.  Maybe we can convince Morgan to give another speech!

As soon as things settle down and it is safe to get back on the water in any capacity I will let you know.

Until then, stay healthy, and watch some fun videos:

Sailing Practice Cancelled Until April 24th

Matching up with school closures, sailing practice is cancelled starting immediately until at least April 24th.

I am going to try to set up online chalk talks and rules talks.  I know, I know, you can't imagine a more exciting thing to do.  But let's do it anyway.  Stay tuned.

Combined Division Regatta CANCELLED

Team,

Due to COVID-19, Sail Sand Point in Seattle has cancelled the Combined Division Regatta that was planned for March 21&22.  At the moment this weekends regatta and practices are still happening.  I am going by the school districts recommendation for cancelling events and at this point they are not cancelling sporting events such as these.

Stay healthy!

Oak Harbor Regatta

This weekends regatta is in Oak Harbor.  For regatta planning this year I am going to try a new online spreadsheet system.  Here is the link to the document:

These documents will have most of the details and allow you to input changes so the process is more dynamic.  Yellow cells are ones you can edit.

The biggest change for the weekend is that we are planning to come back each day and not stay down there.  So we will need drivers each day.  Currently we are short on drivers so please let me know if you can drive.  I could also use on more tow vehicle.

We will meet at Sehome Haggens at 8:30 tomorrow morning and depart shortly thereafter. The rest of the schedule will be on the spreadsheet.

BRING waiver, money, all gear. Lunch is provided both Saturday and Sunday and morning snacks on Sunday will be provided.

Tryouts Week

Parents & Sailors,

I just want to remind everyone that this is tryouts week and that it is VERY likely that not all kids will make the team.  Attached are our tryouts expectations.  Please be sure you come prepared with all gear, workout clothes, completed registration, completed clearance with the school, and mostly a positive attitude.

We will announce the final team Thursday evening after practice via email.  Because we wont have the final team until Thursday evening we will not be sending out the list attending this weekends regatta until Thursday evening as well.
