Re: Swim Test Tonight, 1st Practice, Regatta Signup

Hi all,

Thanks to those who filled out the Regatta Signup Form we sent out yesterday evening. My apologies that the setting was turned to "comments" instead of editing. All of the sheets have now been opened for editing so sailors and parents can fill out the sheet easily.

See you all at 3:45 at BYC today! No sailing gear required- we are prepping boats and more today.

Sailing gear will be required at next practice, Tuesday March 3rd.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or any other issues with the regatta signup spreadsheet!

Best,
Anna

Good evening,

Thank you for registering for Spring 2025 High School Sailing! This is the new spring season mailing list.

Just a reminder that we have our last swim test this evening at 7pm at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center. The swim test itself should take 15 minutes or less, so expect to be there from 7:00-7:30ish. Sailors just need to attend one swim test, not both. If any sailors cannot attend either night of the swim test, please let us know.

Some notes about the schedule:
  • Our first event of the season is in just 10 days, so any sailors interested in attending WINB (aka the Women's Clinic) in Seattle on March 8-9, please give us your availability by practice tomorrow if at all possible.
  • The two events we are hosting here in Bellingham this spring are March 15-16 and April 19-20. March 15-16 is not far away, so please fill out that availability as soon as you can! Any parents or family members interested in helping with either event or in hosting teams, please let us know!

First practice tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 27th, will be in the Ward room (downstairs) at the BYC at 3:45pm. We will meet inside and talk through some logistics before heading to the docks and prepping the boats. Sailors do not need to bring wetsuits but should have warm clothes and rain gear in case of weather.

Tuesday, March 3rd, and all following practices, sailors should expect to meet at the Zuanich dock at 3:45pm with all of their sailing gear (including a wetsuit). If we ever meet indoors or end early for weather, we will send out Remind messages as soon as we can to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Please let us know if you have any questions and we'll see you tomorrow (or sooner)!

Best,

Anna and Cooper

Spring Sailing 2025

Good morning sailors and families,

We are excited to announce the schedule for the Spring 2025 sailing season.

On Thursday, Feb 20th, we will have our High School Sailing Pre-Season meeting, 6pm @ The Bellingham Yacht Club downstairs.  This meeting is for both parents and students who plan to be on the team or are interested in learning more about it. The team is open to all high schoolers in Whatcom County and 8th graders with racing experience. We have many important topics to cover at the meeting including practice and regatta schedules and expectations.

It will also be a good meeting to attend for new sailors interested in joining the team, so please encourage anyone interested to be there.

Spring 2025 Practice and Regatta schedule are posted on the website: https://www.whatcomsailing.com/schedule

First practice is Thursday, February 27th @ 3:45 at the Bellingham Yacht Club.

REGISTRATION & TEAM FEES
Team fees are $350 fee + $35 pinnie deposit = $385 for the spring season. As always, we don't want these fees to stop anyone from participating so please let us know if you need financial assistance. Also, if you aren't sure if you should pay the pinnie deposit, let us know. We have a list of which sailors kept their pinnies at the end of fall.

Registration is now available on the website.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Please note: Our spring mailing list will be based off of registration, so please be sure to register using email addresses you can access easily and check frequently.

ALSO, all high schoolers (not 8th grade) must do the required sports clearance with your school on Final Forms.  This is an online process on your school's website: https://bellingham-wa.finalforms.com/

A sports physical is required, so get that scheduled ASAP if you do not have a current physical on file.

Registration and school clearance is required before you can practice. For a list of everything that is required see the Join Page of our website.  Attached is the sailor packet with more information.

We will go over all this in more detail at the meeting, but feel free to contact us if you have questions!

Hope to see you soon.

Best,
Anna and Cooper
