First Practice Tomorrow

Sailors,

A reminder that our first practice is scheduled for tomorrow at Lakewood at 3:15.  Obviously this wild weather will be taken into account and swim tests and sailing will be postponed if conditions are not appropriate.  As of now practice is on, but watch for emails if conditions don't improve or change for the worse.

Until then, be sure to get cleared with your schools AD secretary ASAP!

High School Sailing Pre-Season Mtg

On Tuesday, Feb 21, we will have our High School Sailing Team Pre-Season meeting, 6pm @ THE BYC DOWNSTAIRS.  This meeting is for both parents and students who plan to be on the team or are interested in learning more about it.  The team is open to all high schoolers and 8th graders in Whatcom County. We have many important topics to cover at the meeting including practice and regatta schedules, expectations, and required paperwork. It will also be a good meeting to attend for new sailors interested in joining the team, so encourage friends who might be interested to come.

Practice and Regatta schedule for the season are posted on the website: http://www.whatcomsailing.com/schedule.html

Practice starts Tuesday Feb 28 @ 3:15 at Lakewood.

FORMS / WAIVERS
Attached are the forms and waivers that all new sailors need to fill out.  Those who were on the team in the fall do not need to return the Whatcom Sailing paperwork, but will still need to verify eligibility with your school.  New team members, please complete these forms and bring to the meeting along with team dues which are $250 for spring season.  Please make check payable to Whatcom Community Sailing.

ALSO, all high schoolers (not 8th grade) sailors must do the required sports clearance with your school.  This is an online process now at your schools website.   A sports physical is also required, so get that scheduled ASAP.

All this paperwork is required before you can practice. For a list of everything that is required see the Join Page of our website.

We will go over all this in more detail at the meeting, but feel free to contact me if you have questions!

See you on Tuesday!
